ASLA Texas Chapter Honor Award

This project is a single-family residence in Houston. An interior/exterior connection was the emphasis for the home’s development. The client expressed a desire that the landscape and court development complement and work well with the building architecture. The program included a relaxation pool, lap pool and fountain, terrace, lighting, and unique site landscaping.

The landscape architect treated the front of the house as an opportunity to make a bold statement, employing up-lighting to emphasize the plant materials and the home. A clean, inviting circular relaxation pool is centered within the court, creating the focal point for the courtyard. The simplicity of the design works extremely well with the clean lines of the building architecture. Strategically placed chaise seating takes advantage of the optimum sun exposure. This contemporary teak furniture works well with the building architecture and conveys warmth to the space.
