Through the use of building site lines and materials, this single-family residence emphasizes a strong connection between architecture and landscape. The clean, simple and elegant style of the architecture is reflected in the landscape through the use of a simple geometry in the creation of pools, terraces, walls, and planting beds.
Perhaps the most striking feature of the garden, a red wall follows the style of the house in using bright primary colors, drawing the eye out into the landscape. At its base, water trickling from a stainless steel pipe adds sound and movement to the garden. In contrast, a still, deep blue reflecting pool occupies the center of the garden. At the base of walls, green trees, shrubs, vines, and groundcovers soften the space. Together, the bright red of the vertical wall, the deep blue of the horizontal pool, and many soft layers of green, structure a beautiful composition, while providing cool and pure spaces for relaxation.
