AIM Management
Houston, Texas
The proposed AIM Management new world headquarters was designed by Pickard Chilton and functions as an important sculptural element along US 59 in southwest Houston. The tower’s prominent location along the freeway demands a strong landscape design for the site. For this reason, large-scaled bosques of trees are created to provide visual interest to the motorists along this edge.
In the center of the site is a circular amphitheater where workers and visitors can stop for lunch, a break, or even meetings.
In an effort to diffuse the undesirable noise of the freeway, water is used throughout the garden, adding to the cool and vibrant atmosphere of the plaza. Monumental live oaks provide a shady environment, while areas of fragrant herbs, colorful perennials, and ornamental grasses add to the sensual experience. To one side of the plaza, stone and steel pergolas are used to create a more intimate dining area.
