ExxonMobil Greens Road Campus
Houston, Texas
The grounds at the ExxonMobil Greens Road Campus are part of a renovation that transformed a 12-story building into offices for 700 of ExxonMobil’s employees. Designed as a daily retreat for workers and visitors, the gardens include a dining terrace, a path, a raised deck, and a lily pond with Koi.
Set within a grove of birch trees, the dining terrace provides a shady and relaxing atmosphere for small gatherings and meetings. Here, evergreen hedge bars are used to divide the space into a series of smaller alcoves, thereby creating a more intimate setting. In the center of this area lies a rectilinear pool of water. Three splash fountains animate the pool and sound fills the terrace.
Leading away from the terrace is a serpentine path of flagstone and black star gravel. Here one can meander amongst the fragrant herb and perennial gardens before reaching an elevated deck. Centered on an existing 50’ tall pecan tree, the deck offers a secluded spot and a stronger connection with nature. Also set along the path is a lily and koi pond with a splash fountain in the center.
