ASLA Texas Chapter Honor Award

The water garden for this office complex in The Woodlands is designed to seamlessly connect two adjacent buildings. In doing so, the courtyard creates both a memorable threshold in and out of buildings and a place for outdoor gatherings.

While the courtyard is ordered by a simple geometry, the crisp architecture of the water feature occupies the center and is designed to beautifully contrast with a soft and lush surrounding landscape.

This 120-foot long water feature is divided into three smaller pool areas by paths of granite stepping stones. Within the courtyard, the splash of water is seen and heard as it falls from four granite water basins within the central pool. Throughout the day, flashes of orange, yellow, and white streak through the water as Koi swim up and down the pool.

Since its completion, this courtyard has become a popular space during all hours of the day.
