Forest Oasis
The Woodlands, Texas

ASLA Texas Chapter Merit Award

Located in the pine forests of The Woodlands, the remote-feeling Forest Oasis is an addition to the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center, a world-class leisure and meeting destination.

To capture the natural character of the Woodlands, buildings, fountains, and walls are made from natural stone. Furthermore, many existing trees were kept and numerous species of native plants were incorporated into the design. From the perspective of one entering the space, it appears as if the woods are allowed to spill out between the two lodges.

Located in the center and standing 30’ tall, a stone tower is perhaps the most notable feature of the resort and has come to be its symbol. With an observation deck on top and a 20’ waterfall on the south side, it is a wonderfully appropriate focal point for the resort. Surrounding the tower is a variety of pools, each distinguished from the other and embellished with different artistic features, such as water walls, underwater fish murals and treasure chests, and computer-controlled spray jets that range from 6’ to 20’ high. Beautiful arbors provide extra shade, while outdoor cabana-style cafes offer refreshment.
