OJB President Jim Burnett, FASLA, and Principal Jereck Boss, ASLA addressed the ASLA Annual Meeting and Expo in several Education Sessions over the weekend of November 14 -18.
Jereck Boss spoke on a panel on Monday in the Education Session ‘Project 180: the Renaissance of Downtown Oklahoma City’, in which he and Russel Claus and Catherin O’Conner of the City of Oklahoma City discussed the design and implementation of the OKC streetscape, which alongside OJB’s Myriad Botanical Gardens and Devon Energy Headquarters, looks to revolutionize the future of OKC, sparking economic growth, re-investment, civic use and a sense of place in the city.
Jereck also spoke on Friday for the Panel ‘Emerging as Leaders through the Economic Downturn’, where he addressed leading firms’ approaches to challenges and opportunities presented by a time of economic uncertainty. Jereck discussed OJB’s approaches in winning strong projects and their quality production in times defined by reticent clients, and leadership principles in this atmosphere.
On Saturday, Jim Burnett introduced a panel for the Education Session ‘Inside the LA Studio with PWP Landscape Architecture’, where Peter Walker and PWP associates Julie Canter, Adam Greenspan and Jay Swaintek spoke about the firm’s current and past projects, outlining challenges and complex operations in creating world-class designs.
More than 6,000 landscape architects and students from across the U.S. and around the world gathered in Boston for the Annual Meeting.
