We are thrilled to be in the company of an inspiring list of developments recognized by the Urban Land Institute for the 2025 ULI Americas Awards of Excellence. At the University of California San Diego, the North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood is a finalist in the 2025 cycle.
ULI Americas Awards honor the most exemplary projects across a wide range of development categories, from housing and mixed use development to planning and open space projects.
North Torrey Pines is comprised of seven buildings including four residence halls, academic offices, lecture halls and classrooms, an auditorium, craft center, dining hall, food retail establishments, and a 1,200 car below-grade parking structure. Buildings are arranged around two major open space quads stitched together with Scholars Drive, which serves as a multi-modal transit corridor and energy center for the community. NTPLLN accommodates approximately 2,904 full-time users and 1,270 visitors from other UC San Diego colleges and the local community each day. Already hailed for its design for discovery, sustainable vision and evidence-based design, the project is notable for its organization as a live-learn lab. A longitudinal study was undertaken to understand and advance the impact of the built environment on the student experience.
Earlier this month, teams of experts who serve on the jury for each program visited the project to see for themselves how the project is changing campus life. Congratulations to a visionary public client and a team of dedicated collaborators for this honor. Learn more about the UC San Diego project and others shortlisted on the ULI website.
