Aggie Park

Campus green space is positively linked to social, physical and mental wellbeing. Texas A&M University lacked a central park space and desired to create an important amenity that would be beneficial to campus life, as well as a place for current and former students to share experiences and lasting memories. The renovation of Aggie Park beautifies 20 acres at the heart of the campus, creating a signature destination that reinforces the A&M identity and connects the university community.

The transformation provides enhanced green space for studying and relaxing, flexible spaces for programmed events like the well-known Aggie Ring Day, and dedicated areas for game-day tailgates. This park will bring the Aggie network and guests together for celebration, relaxation and inspiration.

The existing landscape is integrated with new features to provide a cohesive park environment, offering something for all visitors to enjoy. Aggie Park will feature new additions such as an amphitheater, event lawn, new events facility, pathways and terraced lakes to enhance open space entertainment. The lakes cool the site in the heat of Texas summers and act as a flood prevention system during high amounts of rainfall, defying the sloped scenery.

A series of student, faculty, staff and former student meetings were conducted to inform the design and functionality of the space. The site broke ground in February 2020 and construction is expected to be completed late summer 2022.
