Parkland Hospital Master Plan

Faced with an aging facility that no longer adequately met the demands of their busy practice, the Board of Directors for Parkland Hospital elected to build a new campus rather than renovate their existing facilities. The Office of James Burnett collaborated with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and HKS to master plan the $1.4B campus for Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

The plan, approved in 2004, includes a 1.68M SF hospital with 862 beds, 387,000 SF of clinic space, 269,000 SF of office space and 5,000 parking spaces.  Project components include the regulation of the entry experience, public plazas and multi-use spaces, therapeutic gardens, wayfinding and streetscape environments.

Location: Dallas, TX
