OJB was commissioned by the University of California San Diego to reimagine the landscape at the 1960s-era Southwest Fisheries Science Center.

The four-story “D Building” and 148,075-SF site is what remains of the original four building complexand has been reimagined to support the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) at the University. The converted building will create facilities that enable SIO’s educational and research programs. The site will feature a new public viewing area which offers breath-taking vantage points of the Pacific Ocean and La Jolla. OJB’s landscape design predominately includes native planting, with a mix of both native and non-native plants in areas around buildings and 100% native plants in all other areas of the site.

The project is currently in Design Development and is targeting LEED Silver designation.
