About Carlos Torres de Janon
Carlos joins the OJB team with the belief that landscape design’s interdisciplinary nature must be embraced fully. When coupled with an open invitation to a diverse set of voices coming from all types of academic and personal backgrounds, landscape design can revel in the face of seemingly insurmountable problems. Carlos studied Architecture and Visual Arts at Bennington College, he also recently graduated from Louisiana State University with a Master of Landscape Architecture. Born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Carlos grew up in love with urban life and all its lovely contradictions; including his grandmother’s garden. He believes that life is too short to only wear one hat, and as such describes himself as multi-lingual and creative. Carlos has experience in multiple international architecture and construction firms, higher education, sustainability management, programming, non-profit visual, performing arts, advocacy and planning. He also uniquely has three years of experience as a high school ESL, literature and art appreciation teacher.
