Chris joined OJB as a designer after receiving his Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) from Cal Poly Pomona in 2025. Before starting at OJB, Chris had a diverse academic and professional background. He received his bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before working as an urban planner, particularly on comprehensive plans for cities and counties, downtown plans, and housing plans. During the summer of 2024, Chris held a landscape design internship in Los Angeles and continued as a part-time designer during his final year of graduate school. Upon Graduation, Chris was awarded the SoCal ASLA Student Merit Award.
Growing up in North County San Diego, Chris became passionate about coastal resiliency, and wetland and river restoration. Observing beach loss and erosion, channelized rivers, and impacted wetlands from urbanization has instilled a desire to create ecologically diverse and healthy watersheds and to include the public in the design and restoration process. Chris believes restoration should be paired with outreach, education, and design for public recreation, as sediment and hydrological processes of urban watersheds often occur within densely populated areas and are not widely understood by the public.
