After receiving a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Virginia Tech, Jingyi “Jessy” Qiu joined OJB in August 2019. While in school, her studio projects won multiple school-wide awards and the Virginia ASLA Chapter Award of Excellence. Her thesis, “Recovering Landscape Thickness”, a historical brownfield project designed in multiple scopes of seeing and understanding, won the Virginia ASLA Merit Award and the Stanley Abbot Award.

As a designer, she is currently interested in commemorative landscape and non-literal narratives in cinematography. As a traveler, she has been to countries in Europe, Asia, and North America and always enjoys experiencing the multifaceted cultures and observing people’s affinities with their vernacular landscape.
