About Sarah Nitchman Stangel

Having grown up in Queens, NY, Sarah’s passion for landscape architecture began as a desire to connect people to the natural world within an urban context. She believes in the power of landscape to stitch together complicated sites and create meaningful places for people to be active and interact with each other outdoors. Sarah brings a level of curiosity to all her projects, seeking to deeply understand the needs and desires of clients and deliver a project that solves real problems, transforms spaces and supports social and environmental initiatives. Her skills in project management and graphic communication contribute to a deeper level of collaboration and design understanding, ensuring what is built is right for each unique project.

Sarah joined OJB in 2018 after working for Design Workshop and Reed Hilderbrand. A graduate of the Rutgers Landscape Architecture program in 2011, she has over 10 years of professional experience. Sarah brings with her significant campus design experience including multiple projects at Harvard Business School’s expanded campus prior to OJB. She is currently working on James B. Beam Distilling Co, 88 Black Falcon, Cambridge Park Drive and the Pittsburgh International Airport Terminal.
