The Central Quadrangle at Creighton University transforms a former athletic complex into a vibrant, 5.7-acre green space at the heart of campus.
The Central Quadrangle marks a pivotal investment in the University’s physical and cultural evolution. Located near 22nd and Burt Streets, this 5.7-acre project reclaims the site of former baseball and softball fields to create the first true campus quadrangle in Creighton’s 147-year history.
The space introduces a much-needed campus heart that unifies the surrounding residence halls and academic buildings—including the Harper Center, Ahmanson Law Center, and School of Dentistry—through a landscape that prioritizes community, flexibility, and connection. The quadrangle responds directly to student input calling for more green space and will provide a new home for signature events such as graduation, orientation, and alumni weekends.
The landscape palette features diverse species of trees, shrubs, and plants that provide seasonal interest and frame open views across the lawn. Together, these elements establish a dynamic and inclusive setting that enhances the student experience and strengthens ties between the University and the broader Omaha community.
”The quadrangle not only gives Creighton its most popular gathering space; it creates a crown jewel at the heart of the city’s urban core."
