About

Notable for its emphasis on music instruction and creative exploration, Texas Christian University is at the forefront of expanding opportunities for learning engagement. To support these aspirations, TCU extended its vision for the new School of Music to engage with a new Fine Arts Center and common area as a Creative Commons precinct. The Creative Commons is more than the physical buildings – it includes the outdoor realm that encircles and connects them – establishing and celebrating the entire composition as a place for discovery.

What was once a parking lot and field of grass is now a place for students to collaborate, study, create, socialize and relax. The School of Music includes a botanical entry, auto court seating areas and a stage space at the edge of the building for impromptu concerts. The Fine Arts Center features botanical gardens and seating decks. When fully realized, the Creative Commons connecting the two buildings will be an oasis and destination, supporting the myriad ways people make connections and find expression.
