This past September, Millicent Harvey worked with OJB to capture the 258-acre American Airlines Robert L. Crandall campus.

Paired with a 1.7 million square foot ensemble of buildings by Pelli Clarke & Partners, 81-acres of amenity space, including work-enabled courtyards, active recreation areas, woodland trail systems and regional multi-use connection paths balance indoor and outdoor purpose. Team members are encouraged to walk between buildings, spend time in the fresh air and find cross-disciplinary dialogue. Mobility is enhanced by a network of bicycles scattered throughout the campus, with a future planned shuttle system. These exterior amenities return the central open space to people, as well as removes all vehicular traffic.⁠

Zones of curated gardens are paired with expanses of native and restored Blackland prairie. To respond to the extremes of Texas weather, water management strategies are essential. Permeable pavement and a connected roof drainage system collect and redistribute water. A series of dry creeks that show as natural planted vignettes in temperate weather also double as a natural filtration system that collects and controls runoff in high-impact weather conditions. The campus is a celebration of place and the connections forged between people, which is at the heart of the collaborative workplace.⁠
