HOUSTON CHRONICLE EXTOLS LEVY PARK AS UPPER KIRBY’S NEW TRANSFORMATIVE GREEN SPACE

Molly Glentzer of the Houston Chronicle featured an article on OJB’s soon-to-open Levy Park. Glentzer spoke with OJB’s President, Jim Burnett, and Chip Trageser, Principal and Project Manager for the project. The project is being celebrated as Upper Kirby’s latest green space and is a very meaningful project for Houston-based OJB whose work has focused on tranforming cities with innovative parks. Formerly a hot spot for teen athletics, the park’s 5.5 acres underwent a decline in use following the development of the Southwest Freeway, and several office buildings and apartment complexes. The district hired OJB to re-imagine the landscape and breathe new life into the once very active park. The article continues, highlighting OJB’s thoughtful approach to designing Levy Park and citing the firm’s award-winning projects, including Dallas’ Klyde Warren Park, Oklahoma City’s Myriad Botanical Gardens and Chicago’s Park at Lakeshore East.
