OJB is working with the Avenue of the Arts and the City of Philadelphia on a phased transformation of South Broad Street to create a greener, safer, and more welcoming public realm. The first phase—a pilot block between Spruce and Pine Streets—broke ground this winter and is expected to catalyze funding for nine additional blocks. Carl Dranoff, board chair of Avenue of the Arts, Inc., says the wait will be worth it: “You’re going to be driving down a tree-lined boulevard,” he told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The project introduces new trees, public art, redesigned medians and sidewalks, and traffic-calming measures to enhance both the cultural corridor and the everyday experience of moving through it. Watch the video below to learn more about the project, or read about it here.
