OJB*care

As a supplement to our design capabilities, OJB*care is a maintenance and advisory service that ensures the longevity and health of landscapes. Our team is focused on how sites evolve so plants and people continue to thrive. Comprised of experienced horticulturists and plant scientists, the *care team advises on strategies and regimens that support optimal conditions long after the build is complete.

Approach

The OJB*care team can develop an optimal maintenance plan for every budget and resource condition.

We often work with established maintenance teams to adapt existing care guidelines to new sites, as well as develop new protocols for landscape care.

The OJB*care team often consults early in the design process to contribute knowledge of plant and soil properties to ensure a holistic view of plant curation and selection. We aim to protect the investment in landscape and maintain healthy and vibrant sites for every season. As our climate continues to change, this investment is an especially critical approach.

Landscapes are more than singular plants—they are a network of living things.

Maintenance and periodic care are necessary. We offer OJB*care as part of our project aftercare, ensuring that the natural life carefully crafted for your space is properly nurtured. This ensures a healthy, vibrant space that will serve you and the community for years.

Continuing Care Advisor

Levi Johnson

Leading OJB’s Continuing Care program out of the Houston office, Levi oversees the installation and maintenance of plants and natural materials in OJB’s landscapes as an Advisor. His ability to translate site-specific ecological details into strategies for sustainable design and construction practices allows the OJB team, across all six offices, to craft long-lasting, naturalistic green spaces. Before joining the firm in 2022, Levi worked as a director of a high-end residential maintenance company in Houston where he managed the city’s finest estates’ landscapes. He received his Bachelors of Life Science from Brigham Young University in Landscape Management in 2015, where he worked as a campus arborist in helping maintain the 18,000 trees on the campus. Levi is a Certified Arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture.

Levi’s horticulture knowledge and in-field support helps clients, programmers, and project staff better understand the environmental setting of their projects, which is crucial in keeping landscapes healthy and flourishing. He believes good outdoor spaces should be simple and drawn from the natural surroundings of their sites. He is currently inspecting the planting and maintenance of the first phase of the East River mixed-use development in Houston. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, cooking, backyard projects, and a good game of pickleball.
