About Nina Lehrecke

Nina is entering her 3rd year at the University of Pennsylvania, pursuing a Master of Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning. Having grown up in New York City, she realized the significance of public spaces and equity, which she later made the focus of her academic pursuits. In 2021, Nina obtained her undergraduate degree from New York University, where she majored in Infrastructural Ecologies with a minor in Urban Design and Architecture Studies.

Currently, at the University of Pennsylvania, Nina serves as a research assistant in the Landscape Architecture department. Last year, she gained valuable experience in horticulture and long-term maintenance techniques while working as a Natural Lands steward at Winterthur Gardens. Her exceptional performance in this role earned her the Rosa Laird Hayward Jones Garden – Intern of the Year award. As she enters her final year of graduate school, Nina is enthusiastic about continuing her studies in planting and ecological design.

In her spare time, Nina enjoys camping in upstate New York, and going on hikes in the Wissahickon, outside of Philadelphia.
